Metro Tech opens Eye Care Technologies program
Eye care classes ready for enrollment

Metro Technology Centers’ Eye Care Technologies program is open for enrollment. Short-term evening classes are offered February through June at the Springlake campus in Oklahoma City.

Application for the full-time career program begins in May. A partnership with Dean McGee Eye Institute allows for students to take the clinical portion of training at their facility.

“Opportunities for technicians have steadily increased at a rate of about thirty-percent for the past seven years with no sign of slowing down,” said Shannon Robison, Eye Care Technologies Instructor at Metro Tech.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a unique position within the medical field. The hours, benefits and pay are outstanding. No overnight shifts or working holidays,” she said. “The available certifications are internationally recognized, so one’s credentials travel with them wherever they work or study. The work itself is just plain fascinating. Even after three decades, I learn something new every single day,” said Robison.

The Eye Care Technologies program launched August 1st, 2019. Testing for certifications are available at completion of the full-time program. Go to metrotech.edu/eyecare for class dates and times, visit in-person at 1900 Springlake Drive or call 405-595-4678.

Metro Tech has four campuses providing short-term, career, and customized business training serving the Oklahoma City community since 1979.
